Stayed in the promenade room - what can I say one of the worst standard rooms I’ve ever stayed in! It’s basically a shipping container which only has one radiator which now makes sense to why there is so much mold! Mold around windows, shower etc. Room very narrow and areas unusable as it’s so narrow…no normal sink it’s a toilet/sink combo. I’m all for eco etc but to have to lean over a toilet to use sink is just very poor. This also means you have no drinking water unless you go to the main reception to get some. Take a look at the pictures and you will see what I mean. Not cheap either approx around £130/140 a night. I’m not sure poorly insulted metal shipping containers should be used for accommodation. Well not at these prices! Also note bed bunks very high and awkward for children to exit or get down from safely so be careful.

Came on the super stay and play for the night. Overall had a great time with my little one. Fab range of rides but some areas are very worn & tired looking and in need of refreshing. Kiosk etc prices are high too. The resort stay part was lovely and the view was amazing. Loved the themed rooms and had fab amenities. Will be back Rooms: Overall great rooms & clean. A couple of wear & tear issues but wouldn't stop me returning. Walkability: Set in hills so be prepared for a steep walk on some parts Food & drinks: Plenty of areas to sit and eat. And also to buy but a bit pricey.

We stayed at the Explorers retreat for 3 days it was for my daughter's birthday and we got the birthday package. We arrived and the parking is very limited and the car spaces are very small and very tight to move around if you have a larger vehicle. The staff are friendly we got the keys to the room and the staff put a happy birthday banner on the door and on the bed was a happy birthday balloon and a teddy. We met Gilly mouse who came to the door with a cake and took photos with the mouse which I believe was in the birthday package. The room itself was okay the views over Matlock were incredible with the balcony you can sit there and watch the world go by the seating and table need a lock of paint as the paint was flaking away. The room is on a small side especially if you have 3 children or more you have two TVs in the room one in the main room and one in the children's room but the one in the main room doesn't have a DVD player. In my opinion I thought the children's bunk beds were very high I didn't have the best sleep the first night as I was worried my daughter would fall from a height. Beware if you stay in this hotel as the water can get very HOT very quickly there is a tiny fridge available so make sure you purchase a small milk also the room we stayed in the toilet seat was not put on straight and was on the wonk and beware if it's been raining the balcony can get very slippery I think they need to put a warning on the door slippery when wet as I nearly slipped over. I went to the front desk as our bin in the room was overflowing from rubbish so I asked if there is a wheelie bin I can put it in and the woman said leave it out front door and we collect it the rubbish was there all over night and was collected by the cleaners in the morning.I think they should have a section where there is bins we can just walk to and put the rubbish in instead leaving it out of the front door. We had a meal in the restaurant in the Explorers retreat It was very spaced out from other tables and the meal was lovely. They had breakfast available which was nice they had fruit available and bacon and sausage rolls and hot drinks and orange juice. If you are staying at Explorers retreat you have to walk up a steep hill to get to Gulliver's Kingdom entrance itself they have entertainment available in the evening until 10PM with disco and games to play and marshmallows they have a small shop available from sweets to toys they didn't have much drink on offer unfortunately be nice if they had a bit more of a variety in the entertainment room. Next to the entertainment room I think that needs updating as it has a Lego table but some of the pieces are stuck in the table and it really needs a good clean they also have books available which needs a good clean and replacing. there is a small park on site next to the car park it would be nice if it had like a roof over the park as when we visit it rained and the slide was wet and my children got bit bored as they wanted to go on the park.
